Mary Lou Heald

Mary Lou Heald, age 75, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 12, 2022 due to a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. She was born June 6, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Marie Traina and grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She married Fredrick Heald on August 19, 1967 and spent the majority of their 55 years of marriage in McHenry, Illinois.

Mary Lou’s favorite thing was to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was the life of the party and often had the room captivated by her humorous stories and flare for entertaining. Faith, laughter, generosity, and hospitality are components of the legacy she has left behind to all of us that knew her. She loved Jesus with all her heart and loved others fiercely. Without a doubt, her favorite people called her Nana!

For many years, Mary Lou served in children’s ministry teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Pioneer Club. She loved to make God’s word come alive and cherished the opportunity to share the love of Jesus. Many lives were touched by her faith and devotion to the truth of God’s word.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Fredrick; her two daughters, Donna (Phil) Pace and Allison (Michael) Jones; her brother Terence Traina; her grandchildren, Ross (Samantha) Nelson, Shelby (Christian) Curran, Abigail (Joshua) Johnsen, Elizabeth, Caleb, & Phoebe Pace, and Alex & Zach Jones; her great-grandchildren, Maddox, Serenity, Dani, Roxanne, Lakelyn, Lucy, and Roran; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews with special mention to Nathan (Ashley) Borter, Jessica (Aaron) Lane, and Amy Braido.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marie Traina; and her sister, Paulette Borter.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry, IL. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM.

I had the honor of knowing Mrs. Heald . Grew up in the same neighbor and she was also my softball coach for McHenry Pigtail League. Lots of awesome memories. She had an awesome sense of humor. Never judged. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Fly high.

I’ve known Mary Lou since childhood, my closest friend Pam and her extended family were my second family in Arlington Heights. I knew Mary Lou to be a fun loving and God loving lady, very close to her family, friends & community. She will be missed by all. Love and prayers are with her, her husband, children and family as she rests with our Lord. ❤️
